Rinzai-shu Myoshinji Sect
The principal image believed to have been carved by Unkei (? -1223) is the wooden image of Shaka-nyorai (the founder of Buddhism).
This temple constructed at the Command of Emperor Godaigo was successively supported by the Shogunates of Ashikaga, Chiba and Kokubu.
It still preserves a number of old documents, a piece of Buddhist priest's stole clad by Emperor Gomizuo, a command of belief issued by Emperor Godaigo, "Jubun-hai" (a sake cup, which will mysteriously make water leak out from its bottom just when it is filled up to its rim.)
